The Third Amendment

"No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law".

To put it simply, this amendment protects homeowners' right not to let soldiers stay in their homes in times of peace or war. An example I can give to better understand is that during World War II, many German soldiers stayed in random citizens' houses because there wasn't enough housing. If this had happened in the United States, it would have broken the Constitutional right of the Third Amendment.

I chose this video because it gives a deeper understanding of the Amendment. He tells the story of why this Amendment was made and what happened in America for it to be made.

This cartoon is very simple, but it can be understood very well. If a soldier wants to stay in someone's house, but the owner does not want them to, they have the Constitutional right to tell them no. I also want to point out that a homeowner should never feel guilty about telling a soldier no. I believe it is a part of being in the military that they should have housing and not have to depend on other people for it.
